A man seen riding a bike near downtown Riverside late Saturday night was arrested on suspicion of possessing burglary tools that can be used to break into a car, illegal drug possession, and violating probation he was placed on for an auto theft conviction, Riverside police said.
Isaac Villegas, 32, of Riverside was stopped by two officers from the department’s Downtown Entertainment District squad just before 11 p.m. Saturday night as he was riding his bike in the area of 14th Street and Magnolia Avenue, the department said.
He had “jiggler” keys on him, sometimes called shaved keys, which are filed or cut down to overcome car ignitions or house door locks. Police also found methamphetamine tucked inside a flashlight he was carrying, officers said in a Facebook posting.
A records check found he was on post release community supervision in the auto theft case.
Villegas was in custody Sunday at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside, where he was being held in lieu of bond on $100,000 bail, jail records showed.
